Arrow Modding AGP 6800gs To A 6800 Ultra Extreme

I should recieve my 6800gs that i got from ebay tomorrow, the seller stated that it has been unlocked from 12 pipelines to 16 pipelines (but dunno about the vertex shaders) so is basicly a 6800gt. It only cost me £30+£6p&p

In preparation to tweaking it more etc ive been looking on the internet for some more info on overclocking this card and found this guide on how to make it an Ultra Extreme.

http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/hardw...a-extreme.html

But to achive the ultra extreme clock speeds with stability on this 6800gs the guide says i have to flash a ultra extreme bios, I Think this is because 6800gs/gt's operate at 1.3v which is set to the card's bios but ultra extremes/ultras, operate at 1.4v which is set to card's bio (they have 2 molex connectors)

but im not too confident in flashin the bios etc, so is there anyway i can softmod the voltage change with a certain program?

ive looked around in riva tuner but cant find anyway to change the card's voltage operating voltage to 1.4

Can anyone help me, hopefully someone with some good old 6800gs modding experience from the 6800gs era? lol

any help ost appreciated, thanks

We are all volunteers here as such this is not a chat, but a forum. This means that either, people are not able to help with your situation, or those that can do not have the time. Please refrain from cursing on the forum. I can understand that you are frustrated, however your situation is a request for modifying a very specific issue. That card is very old now and therefore, a very limited number of people will have experience in the exact issue you are referring to. Please be patient.

In my experience, you are playing with fire by flashing the bios. Secondly the difference in performance will be very minimal, and not that great overall. http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=290&chart=108

Re: Modding AGP 6800gs To A 6800 Ultra Extreme

Hello again, So is their anyway to change the card's voltage via softmod instead of reflashing the bios.
Like how pipes/vertexes are unlocked via Nstrap thingy in rivatuner

thanks

Re: Modding AGP 6800gs To A 6800 Ultra Extreme

No. The reason there are "low-end" chips isn't always just because the chip maker made them for that market but because some chips that are produced don't run as they should. If you try to make a chip work as it wasn't designed too you run the risk of the card itself being ruined.

Turning a GS into an Ultra is a fruitless venture. Even making it a GT isn't easy.
