Re: my graphics card slots?

Start by checking your motherboard / PC manual to see what possibilities you have .. I think you'll find you're limited to PCI graphics cards, I don't remember any Dell in the gx series with any AGP slots and definitely no PCI-e

Quite right .. you have a more advanced mobo than I expected ..

There's a link to Del recommended upgrade cards here

I note that they recommend a

Re: my graphics card slots?

I had a GX260 on the bench for repair and it looks very similar to your board including the graphics slot. I am damn sure it's not a PCI-e slot , looks like a 1.5V AGP to me .. so take care. You also say that your PC is a PIII 1Ghz. What are you thinking of upgrading to .. and why .. If you want to do anything with that PC a memory upgrade might be better & give you a better edge. 256MB isn't really enough for XP although it is considered "adequate". try upgrading to 512 or 1GB. Unfortunately though that memory isn't cheap, so go for what you can afford and if you don't see possibilities of a Motherboard upgrade (will require both new CPU & DDR2 Memory too) in the near future then try getting one 512 stick now and put it with (one of) your current memory sticks.

Re: my graphics card slots?

I have a 5200 on my asus .. it's nothing spectacular but works for my needs. I don't play games though .. and doubt if I ever will .. I do some graphics stuff though and for that it's fine.

I'm still unsure about your board .. It looks like it's a PGA370 socket for the CPU and the Graphics looks like it's a 1.5V AGP, the 5200 should run there with no problems.
Stay away from PCI-e cards .. they won't fit.
