I think my 8800gtx is screwd

right, i origionaly posted in the powersuply part of the forum because after buying a new psu i had a huge fps drop.

but now its got much much worse....

i load up a game like halflife 2 or cod 4, runs for about 20 secends with a reduced frame rate then everything kindof goes black/weird like your looking into the void if u get what i mean. this is happening with all my full screan 3d apps but when i minamize out of the game the desctop is renderd perfectly, i can end the game and go on useing my pc with no problems.

tryed reinstaling drivers, useing older ones, even reinstaled directx 10

my new psu is much better than the old one (1000w antec Antec TruePower Quattro) so i dont have a clue what is going on.

plz help guys, should i retern the gfx card? or is there anything i can try?

what are your full system spec? Also have you tried updating your drivers?

Full specs: bfg 8800gtx oc2 768 ddr3
intell quad core @2.6ghz
asus comando mb
2 gig coursir 800mhz ram (2x1 gig)
2 300gig harddrives running in raid
psu 1000w antec Antec TruePower Quattro
vista ultimate

and yes, newest drivers have been tryed, newest mb bios tryed useing difrent rails from the psu. i dont know what else 2 try

Also what temp is your gpu at?

Here is some screans, the strange thing iv just noticed is when i alt tab bk to the game its bk to normal for a few seconds and then goes again:

and the temps are fine, the reason i bought this new psu was because the old one was droping on the 12v rail and my sys was restarting so i was hopeing this would save all my problesm. im so confused :S

Can you just list all you temps?.

Can you try the card in a different computer?

CPU temp under high load is around 40-50c normaly slightly lower and gfx card temp has a high of about 71-75c but it dosnt have enough time to reach this at the moment as the games only last about 1 min b4 the screan goes funny.

also i dont think any of my mates have a mb with pci-e i might be able to dig out my old mb but all the rest of the kit apart from cpu would be the same.

Click Start>Run> and type dxdiag

Once it fully loads go to the Display tab and do all the tests in there.

Particularly the Direct 3d test. Does that display properly?

Ummm oooook... iv tryed my old psu (b4 i tryed my old mb) and it has fixed the problem, everything is running fine. so im guessing its my new psu, but it shouldnt be as the new one is much better than the old one.

what do u recomend?

i have heard that the quadros had issues with some 8800's hmm a pcp power and cooling 750 watt would be very nice
