Yay new 8800gt!

Got a new ASUS 8800 GT 512 MB card, it's the BIG FAN version fyi.
Before i upgraded I could check my video card's temperature using either PC Wizard or Speedfan but with this new card I couldn't find its temperature anymore.
Am I doing something wrong? or does this 8800 gt not have a thermal detector?

Thanks for any help!

OT : Could using a 350W PSU be the reason of not being able to find the temperature? yes I am using a 350W with a 8800 gt card, working fine so far but so many people have told me it's harmful to my computer overall so gonna upgrade it asap i believe.

Re: Yay new 8800gt!

Indeed your power supply needs an upgrade, should at least be 500W but better to look at 600W just to be safe. As for the card, it should have a Thermometer in it, if not... well, I don't know. Get your new PSU and try again, although I can't see this as being the root of the problem.

Re: Yay new 8800gt!

I would highly recommend also that you upgrade your power supply for that video card. Indeed, it can harm components if you have a power supply that is too weak to supply the power that is needed. I don't think it has anything to do with why you can't find the temperature.

Hi KrizQoo!!

I'm bhahar

So, as the Tumbleweed said, you might have to reconsider to upgrading your power supply. 350W is just not enough with the specifications like that, although it seems like running fine

About the temperature of the graphic card, I think its nothing related with the graphic card. You can try download a latest version of PC Wizard and SpeedFan, and see whether they detect the temperature of your GPU

Re: Yay new 8800gt!

Ok finally got to find the temperature of my GPU.
I had to download 2 softwares from ASUS, they are GamerOSD and SmartDoctor, looks like that's the only way to show the temperature for this card, kinda weird if you ask me.

All I need now is to get a better PSU then I shall ask for help with overclocking.

FYI Smartdoctor is a OC software supported by ASUS, it's also Smartdoctor that shows my GPU temperature, any guidelines in using Smartdoctor to OC my card will be very much appreciated. :)

don't try o/c until you upgrade the power supply, the o/c will put to much added pressure on your already overstretched supply

Yea I think I'll buy a 600W Coolermaster PSU before I OC my video card.
Btw, anyone could teach me how to OC my video card using ASUS Smartdoctor? :)

Re: Yay new 8800gt!

Which Coolermaster are you looking at? Coolermaster makes some models that aren't very good. You might want to check out the Antec Trio 650, it is reasonable and a great power supply.

Re: Yay new 8800gt!

That's a bit too expensive for me. I'll settle for a medium quality PSU, don't really need a super good one.
Whatabout this?
Cooler Master RP-600 eXtreme Power 600W P.S.
GTR 600W AS-600GX 14CM FAN EasyPlug P.S.
GTR 620W PSH550V-D EasyPlug Power Supply
MaxPower 牛魔王 GPV500 600W EasyPlug P.S.

The PSU above are the ones that I could afford, I just copied and pasted them from a HK computer store website.
Which is the best one to get ?

Where are you located like in what country?

Here is a real deal and better quality. Don't know if the deal is still on, but worth a try if you are in the USA:

Note: Could not find what price range you could afford at this time, so need to know that as we look for deals.
