ATI Radeon hd2400 sound problems
Okay, so here's the deal.
Recently, my 3 year old or so card (ati radeon x700 pro) overheated and stopped working correctly. So I got a new one. The card I got was an ATI Radeon hd2400 pro PCI-E card. It fixed my graphical problems, but now I'm facing a new problem. I can't hear any sound, except when I play World of Warcraft. I can hear WoW ingame music and things fine, but on the desktop I can't hear any sound generated by other applications. Itunes, windows media player, ventrilo, videos on youtube, I can't hear any of them. Nothing is muted, my headphones work fine, and my drivers are updated. And yet I still can't hear any sound outside WoW, and it's really pissing me off. I think it might be because I use XP instead of Vista. Also, when I open up the Realtek Sound Manager, I can hear the sound test through my headphones, but still nothing on other applications. Info provided by sound manager: Audio driver version: 5.10.0.5027 Direct X version: 9 (gfx card uses direct x 10, possible problem?) Audio controller: HD Audio Audio Codec: ALC 880 My sound card is built into the mobo. It came with the computer. I've never had a problem with my sound until I got this new graphics card and installed its drivers. I don't know what to do, and googling this problem is not yielding any answers. Please help. |

Re: ATI Radeon hd2400 sound problems
I have the exact same problem, although my old card didn't fry, it was just starting to go obsolete, and my new card is the ati radeon hd 2600 pro. Also have (had) Realtek Sound, and have never had any problems prior. Although the graphical problem is completely fixed.
