Hey, I'm new here. Im thinking about buying a new GFX card, but when I looked at the Specifications, it said I need a 350 WATT PSU, and I have a 230 VOLT PSU. Will I be able to run my soon to be new GFX card?
please reply soon Cheers,

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
Hi,
Welcome to the forum. I would get a newer PSU, not even a 350watt. Go for 450-500+ watt. The price difference is not that extreme. The extra power will give you more options down the road. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
Hey, thanks man. I have decided to buy a 350watt PSU for 10 bucks of a friend, despite what you said :D, because I am pretty broke at the moment lol (keeping in mind I am a 15 year old). The next Upgrade (after the x1650) will, however be a 450 watt PSU, for $90. thanks for your help,
cheers, russianroulette

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
I Agree,
Do yourself a favor and get a newer one there are many out there for under $90.00. Here is a link that may help you: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...Power-Supplies I do not reccomend cheating on what is important no matter what. It may cost you more down the road (EX. Motherboard, Ram, etc) If this cheap one blows. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
Hey thanks!. Luckily, while I was out today, I bought a 450w PSU ($69). I'm now looking at a different GFX card, more high range, but not too pricey, because my dad is always complaining about me upgrading so often. Any suggestions apart from an x1950XT?

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
Hi,
Sorry, I am not a specialist with video cards and thier performance. Hopefully Ebackhus will jump in and give reccomendations. I am sure he will want to know what PSU you purchased (Make, Model) has this may help. I am also interested. He may also need the MoBo specs. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
thanks. well lets see.... its an ATX 450w PSU. thats pretty much all I know . Since installing it, I have noticed greater all round performance etc. I am looking for a card somewhere between a x1500 and an 2600xt but, nothing too pricey!
cheers, russianroulette

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
There's a label on the side of the PSU that shows the make/model, total watts, and amps for +3.3V, +5V and +12V. The +12V rail powers your graphics card and needs to be at least 18A for an AGP card.

Re: Radeon X1650 And 230v Psu
I hope that wasn't $150 in US dollars because that means you were ripped.
