PCChips GOAL3+ Motherboard - v1.1C
AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.80GHz Power Up Standard 450w ATX Power Supply And the troublesome videocard: Biostar VP7202GL26-BS2RY 7200GS(256mb/64bit)DDR2 (HDTV/VGA/DVI) PCI Express So I just put this computer together right, everything comes along nicely; I get all the components together and turn 'er on with a WindowsXP disk. The computer will show both POST screens, then after you tell it to boot from the CD it goes to a blank screen (the monitor however retains its green light so there still is a signal) So..... I tried a bartPE disk, once it gets done with the POST and tries to load the OS from the CD we get the same blank screen... So, I try loading from a Knoppix CD and interestingly enough it goes through all the startup scripts until it tries to start Xwindows.... Then it gives the same blank screen. So I'm not foolish and I see that there is a onBoard video card, so I navigate through the BIOS and the ONLY options I can find relating to the onBoard Video (you know how there is usually a way to DISABLE it) is a section where I can change my primary display adapter from PCI to PCI Express. So at this point I am relatively pissed off so I plug into the onBoard video card, well..... Probably since I have a PCI EX card in there it doesn't give ANY signal. I am at a loss at this point. If any of you crazyfoo's have some ideals please let me know! |

Re: No Video after POST
Wow.... Ok, so I just pulled out the PCI EX card with the intention of using the onBoard card...... It does the same damned thing as the PCI EX card, shows POSTS then goes blank... what in the hell is going on?

Re: No Video after POST
If you are using a pci-e video card you will need to enable that in
bios. Does that card come with a extra power lead? If so did you plug that in? What brand power supply do you have?

Re: No Video after POST
Power Up / 450-Watt / ATX / 120mm Fan / SATA-Ready / PCI-E-Ready / 24-Pin / Power Supply
There is no spot for the power plug on the MB The BIOS is set to use PCI-E as the Primary Display These problems occur IDENTICALLY if I remove the PCI-E card and use the onBoard video. Last edited by savoxis; 01-03-2008 at 01:56 PM. |

Re: No Video after POST
![]() So on the VID card there IS a 2 prong power plug to the left of the heatsink, does that need juice? The PCI-E power is susposed to be that 6pin plug correct? I dont have that on my MOBO

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2475867&CMP=EMC-TIGEREMAIL&SRCCODE=WEBLET03SHIP Im begining to think that the motherboard is bad. I plugged the card into a different computer and it works great, I have never seern this kind of problem before so I dunno but I spose I could RMA the motherboard. What really urks me is the fact that the onboard card acts the same.... and I can watch it post. Also when I boot linux up i can watch all the startup scripts and daemons it doesnt shut off until it seemingly needs to USE the vid card... ARGH!!!!! Any other ideas? Re: No Video after POST
that's when it hands over to the video card and pulls full power
put a decent power supply in it which will cost 4 to 5x the price of the one that's in there Power Supply Information and Selection

Re: No Video after POST
If you read the user reviews of the power supply, you will find that
about half of the folks who responded said that the psu was a p.o.s. $20.00 doesnt buy a very good psu.

Re: No Video after POST
Most quality psu have multiple 12v rails, yours has one. It is very
confusing to me as well. But for me its like this. If you purchase a quality psu with a efficiency of at around 80% and has at least 2 12v rails at, at least 20amps you should be good. There is a good read in hardware all about psu's.

Re: No Video after POST
Power Supply Information and Selection
there are psu's available with over 65a available on a single line with multiple rails add the rails together and then discount by approx 17-20% and then you have the amps available i.e. 3x18a=54a-9a=45a
