CPU+Ram bottlenecking a 8800GT?

Hello All,
I recently bought a BFG 8800GT 512MB.
I'm a little disappointed with its performance. My setup is:

DFI NF4 Ultra-D, Athlon 64 3200+ (2.1Ghz) Socket 939, and 2x512MB Ram 2-2-4-5.

Is it possible that my cpu+ram are bottlenecking the 8800GT?

If yes, what would be the best thing to do? Build a new computer? OR get some ram/better CPU?
Suggestions please.
Thanks all.

Re: CPU+Ram bottlenecking a 8800GT?

Yea your ram and cpu should be updated along with the motherboard. The 939 socket cant really offer the speed that you want. Also intel cpu's drivers will work better with your 8800. I would recommend a 775 mobo with ddr2 with a maximum capacity of 4 gig or higher for future upgrade. And then a core two duo , and some 800mhz or higher ram. So just a bare bone upgrade.

Re: CPU+Ram bottlenecking a 8800GT?

The RAM isn't so much as the CPU is. See if you can find a 4400+ X2 and consider doubling the RAM.

Re: CPU+Ram bottlenecking a 8800GT?

Thanks all.. I've been searching, and looks like a barebone upgrade would be CHEAPER than Ram+CPU.
Thanks all!
