PC Pitstop's video performance performs a basic test of your system's graphics capabilities and reports the result in millions of pixels displayed per second (MP/s). The percentage indicates the performance of this system compared to systems in our database with a similar CPU, clock speed, and video board. For example, a score of 50% would indicate this system had half the performance of comparable systems; 200% would indicate twice the performance. Determining "normal" performance can be difficult, there can be wide differences due to video drivers even on the same video board. (You can use Driver Alert to see if you have the latest driver.)

Re: Need help w/geforce 7300 gt card

Do you get the same lag when you are playing single player?

also, could you please post your full system specs, including your PSU and RAM?

Finally, I hate to say it, but that 7300gt isn't quite the top performer among graphics cards. BF2 Demanded some of the top performers of the 6 series cards, and at least a 7600gt from the 7 series cards to play nice.

Although it "may" be able to run the game, you might have to run it at a very low resolution and quality. Which settings are you trying to run the game at?

Re: Need help w/geforce 7300 gt card

AMD ATHLON 64 , 3800+ ,2.4GHZ. 1.00GB OF RAM

I am thinking another 1gb stick of ram might help, and yes i was told i should look at the 7600 pci ex. cards .

And yes received lag at single player mode as well.but not as bad.

I am thinking its a system prob. like needing more ram sence i use team speak during game play with black hawk down the team speak would lag as well , everyone talking gets delayed and choppy when i am hold down say my run key to make my guy walk ect.. lag appears.
i checked all drivers and everything looks up to date ect.. ethernet adapter will not take the newest driver out. cant figure that one out. lol

thank s for your help. would like to try and over clock the card some if its posable ? see if i can get a little more out of it.

Re: Need help w/geforce 7300 gt card

Hi,

My system's rather similar to yours, and I play Star Wars Battlefront 2 on it - a game that's based on the Battlefront 2 engine. I haven't played it in a while, so I do not have frame rates, but I remember it being a good experience. This is what I have in relation to you...

Me
--------------------------------
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+, 2.0Ghz, 2Gb RAM
PNY brand 7600 GS 256Mb, PCI-E
Bestec 300w Power Supply (came with the system)

You
---------------------------
AMD Athlon 64 3800+, 2.4Ghz, 1Gb RAM
7300 GT
(unknown power supply)

Now I imagine you have at least as powerful (or as wimpy) of a power supply (PS) as I do. I've had this card in my system for over a year and a half, and my PS meets the minimum requirements of the card - barely. PSs (as I'm learning on this forum) are as important - if not even more important - than RAM for keeping a graphics card happy. So post your power supply specs. By all rights I should upgrade my PS, but I've ran into a few snags with that . But since you said in your first post that you have a "custom" system, you should not have the same problems I do.

Bottom line what I'm saying here is that a 7600gs runs the BF2 engine pretty darn well. And if you want to upgrade the graphics card, first get a more powerful power supply. Maybe something in the 450w - 500w range. These guys will tell you all about that including a good brand and even a good deal on one if you ask, but I recommend upgrading the power supply and graphics card at the same time.

I know zip about overclocking, by the way.

PS : As far as Nvidia chipsets go, I've found that it's the last 3 numbers in the model that really make a difference : 6800 vs 6600 vs 7300 vs 7600 - the 6800 will likely run the fastest. The first number sort of designates the bells-and-whistles capability of the card (8nnn delivers newer capabilities than the 7nnn series of cards). The second number gives the "speed" in a manner of speaking (n800 is better than n600 is better than n300 and so on). It's not an absolute rule, but a good indicator of how to read the numbers. Theres a big huge list of graphics cards posted as one of the first threads in this forum - check it out.

My 7600gs runs FEAR at around 40 frames per sec average with about everything set to max except volumetric lighting and AA. Battle for Middle Earth 2 runs well on "high", Fable's settings is like FEAR, NFS Most Wanted is max everything, Rainbow Six Vegas I have to set to medium.

Re: Need help w/geforce 7300 gt card

Check your temperatures and voltages with SpeedFan and post back.

That's a common misconception. More RAM doesn't help you when your graphics card is slowing everything down. If you want to upgrade, go for a newer card like an 8800GT, and also grab a quality power supply capable of 26A output on the +12V rail.

You can try the Omega 2.169.21 optimised driver set for your graphics card first, they are faster than reference NVIDIAs. Grab them here: http://www.omegadrivers.net/nvidia.php

You shouldn't overclock if your graphics card is overheating. Check its temperature when you're playing a game; Alt-Tab out and run SpeedFan.

Lastly, try a quality power supply capable of 26A on the +12V rail in your system and see if the lag goes away.
