XFX GeForce 8600 GTS or HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT?

Hello

, I am planing on buy either the XFX GeForce 8600 GTS 256DDR3 or HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT 512 GDDR3. Im not sure which one is best for me. I would like to know which one will provide me with the best perfomance in games like Call of Duty 4, Bioshock & Gears of war. Which will have the most stable frame rate?

If you can go a few dollars more i would get the 512MB version of the 8600. That will give you better performance.

Well on the canadian tiger direct site the 2600 XT has 512mb for the same price as the 8600 GTS 256mb but once you go to 512mb for the 8600 gts it goes up to 200$ from 150$. The reason im not sure is because the 8600GTS has a higher memory clock but the 2600 XT has a higher core clock =/.

That turns out to be $200 canadian. =/ I dont think I can afford that. Il probably go with the HIS HD 2600 XT. Thanks for your help you guys.

The extra 256MB of VRAM on the 2600XT won't really help much. The memory bus is gimped on the 2600 and 8600 so anything more than 256MB won't be fully utilized.

arg. then im not quite sure which one to get. THe 8600 GTS has 32 stream processors while the 2600 XT has 125

A much better card than the 2600, make sure your psu can handle such an upgrade, you'll need no less than 20+ amps on the 12V rail @ 40C

i would shoot for 24a on the 12v for any pci express card

Yea. I read abunch of reviews on the 3850s compared to cars around the 8600s or 2600s and the 3850s had like %50 more perfomance. I cant wait to get it. Hmm. On the side of my PSU it said:

+5v 3.3v +12V +12V +12v -12v
24A 24A 18A 18A 18A 0.8V

Thats not enough is it?

Its an Antec Trio 550W

yea the 3000 series sopposedly was made to equal the power of the 2900's series , but use much less power and its quad enabled too ;)
