Hey,
Over the past 3 months I have had bad problems with my graphics card. I can boot up fine, browse the internet fine, and watch movies, with usually no problems. When I enter a game such as World of Warcraft or Counter Strike, the problems start. In WoW I can usually start it up and get in game, but it tends to start to flicker (the ground and some characters). The ground gets lines on, and water looks very blocky. Then all of a sudden it freezes, sometimes for 5-10 seconds then it comes back. Then a few seconds later the same thing. Finally, it will freeze and just not come back. Things I have tried: -I have brought it to a COLD environment, same things happen. -I put in completely new drivers (this seemed to solve the problem for a half hour, then it came back) -I rolled back 1 year, (when it worked), same problem I believe it COULD be fried. It was on a lot in my dorm room which was VERY hot (90-100fahrenheit). Maybe under large stress, and in the heat it overheated and broke it slightly? Could it be I need new BIOS? If you have any ideas or have seen this before, please tell me! I'm thinking of just buying a new card for Xmas :) Thanks! |

Re: nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX Problems!
I don't know of anyone around me who has a computer that would be able to put my graphics card into. Most of them have closed Dells or something like that, which probably wouldn't work out too well. Is there any way I can test this stuff? Is there a monitor system that will tell me my power input/output, graphics stress etc?

Not exactly sure what to show, photobucket is weird right now so i cant link it. What should i be looking for?
Everything looks good except for Internal Temp: 100oC (it has a burning symbol) could this be a problem? |

Re: nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX Problems!
Thanks for the reply. Well its great that its my power and not my video card (way to save 250$!). Is installing a fresh power supply hard? It seems easy enough. I think I may take pictures of the inside to make sure each is in its place. In any case, thanks for the really helpful replies!
