Radeon 3870 not working properly or something else?
I have an annoying problem with my new computer. I'd appreciate any good advice.
Here's my configuration: Processor: Core2Duo E6550 Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3L Graphic card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 3870 Now the problem - in almost all games (Crysis, Nfs pro street, Call of duty 4) I get strange textures. Pictures should give You an idea of what I`m talking about. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now what I`ve tried and figured out: -clean Windows XP installation with newest ATI drivers -clean Vista installation with the newest ATI drivers -when setting shadowing detail in Crysis to low there are less "gray textures" -fifa 2008 works correctly Any ideas? |

Re: Radeon 3870 not working properly or something else?
First of all thank You for showing intrest in my problem.
I`ve tried reinstalling the Windows Vista and the games three times - still have the same texture problems. I`ve even installed windows xp to check if it's a DX10 issue (well, it isn't). One more thing that I`ve done is installing the "737-30533: Crysis: Radeon™ series: Graphic corruption occurs during gameplay" hotfix drivers from ATI. They didn't help in Crysis or any other game. My power supply is Be Quiet straight power E5-450W. Here is data from speedfan: Temperatures: Temp1 - 49C Temp2 - 41C Temp3 - -2C HDD - 42C Core0 - 33C Core1 - 33C Voltages: Vcore1: 1,10V Vcore2: 1,89V +3,3V : 3,34V +5V : 5,00V +12V : 2,62V -12V : -16,97V -5V : -4,85V +5V : 5,30V Vbat : 3,17V The temperature on Radeon 3870 is 64C while not playing games (data from catalyst control center). Hope this helps. Last edited by queros; 12-16-2007 at 10:48 AM. |

Re: Radeon 3870 not working properly or something else?
Also, check the +12V value in BIOS. The reading you're getting off SpeedFan is incorrect, possibly caused by a faulty sensor. The computer wouldn't even start if it was really 2.62V
EDIT: Even the new reading of 9.79V is too low. If it's the same in BIOS then it looks like a faulty PSU.

Re: Radeon 3870 not working properly or something else?
Thank You for your help.
The readings are different while playing games. This is what I got after a few minutes in Crysis: ![]() I'll check the readings in BIOS and report back with them. |
