Hello, I have a problem: all my games are choppy and jerky. With an ATI x1700 mobility, I am used to playing games at full resolution- 1680*1050, or at least 1280*768 with all settings maxed, such as Battlefield 2.
For example, I just bought Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and it doesn't play well on my Asus F3JP laptop. At 800*600, the game allows me to play without any jerks or choppiness, but when I press the forward(or bckwrd) button for more then 1 second, my character goes forward (or bckwrd) for longer than that time, and I don't have the ability to look around while moving, and this is only on the single player. At higher resolutions, CoD 4 plays with choppiness and jerkiness, and when I press, say, the forward button once, the character moves forward for a much extended period of time: approximately 20-30 seconds. This happens with all my games, including UT2004 and Battlefield 2. I have an Asus F3Jp, Intel DualCore 2.0 GHz processor, 2 gigs of memory, and an x1700 mobility radeon graphics card. the drivers for the x1700 are the ones that came on the preinstallation cd, because there doesn't seem to be any for the x1700 mobility on ATI's website. This seems to be isolated as a graphics card problem, because everything else on my laptop is working fine. I did a clean renistall a few days ago, and the problem persists. I am currently not able to buy new videocard, and I was really excited about CoD4, so I really want to be able to play Call of Duty 4. If there is any information I can give, or anything I can do, short of buy a new laptop, I'll keep all options open. Thanks in advance! |

Re: All Games Choppy and Jerky on Laptop
The MR X1600 & X1700 are nearly identical (in fact they pretty much are). Try the latest 7.11 drivers.
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...xp/mobility-xp If those don't work the 7.9's & 7.8's might be worth a shot. But the newer Catalyst drivers have given better performance.

Re: All Games Choppy and Jerky on Laptop
I tried the drivers, but is said that the graphics card doesn't support it.
I'm searching for 7.9 drivers now. I've actually tried Omega drivers and NGO, but they don't give that much of a boost. I finally found a site named mobility modder, but it pretty much wrecked my PC, making me rollback my graphics driver in safe mode. Thanks for help, though!
