Trouble with New Video Card
I just replaced my old video card for a Sapphire RADEON X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 AGP 8X video card. And I'm trying to play Gears of War , but the game is not 100% playable because it lags during the game...
I have 1Gb RAM, Pentium 4 GHZ 3.00. I'm new to ATI cards, my last one was a nvidia. Now there is a ATI icon on my taskbar, maybe I have to change some setting in there , I'm not sure .Here is a screenshot of the options: ![]()

Re: Trouble with New Video Card
By lacks do you mean laggs? Have you tried simply turning the graphics settings down?
What percentage is your cpu running at while playing the game? Pentium 4's arnt really known for there speed anymore so im guessing its probly slowing it up, or your graphics settings in the game are just to high.

Re: Trouble with New Video Card
Thanks, now its playable.. I had to lower the setting on both, the card and on game.
I checked the CPU load history when I was playing and the bar was on 100%, then when I quit it went to 2-4% . Is this something that I have to worry about? |

Re: Trouble with New Video Card
100% CPU load while playing a game is fine, nothing to worry about.
You might want to consider using the Omega driver instead of the standard Catalyst. It's basically the same thing, but has been tweaked to improve gameplay. You will probably see an increase of about 5-10fps. Let us know if you decide to use it and we'll give you instructions for safely removing the old driver before installing Omega. The other advantage of Omega is that is doesn't need the Catalyst Control Center which uses alot of system resources. I have an X1950Pro PCIe with Omega, and use ATI Tray Tools which has the same kind of features as the Control Center.
