Help with New PC
Hi everyone, this is a bit embarrassing my first post asking for help. Anyway i've just purchased an AcerPower F6 from play.com (http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3515737/-/Product.html)
What my problem is; i'm fairly good at the software side of things but with hardware it lets me down. I've been reading about the graphics which is intergrated into the PC which i've bought and it doesn't seem too good to be playing games like Battlefield 2 ect. I was wondering if someone could help me in telling me if a Geforce 7600 (any type) would be compatable with this pc? as i understand theres a few different types of card. If not can someone suggest a decent one for me, preferable to be not too much money (£100-150). Thanks alot ![]() Edit; I've purchased an extra gig of ram from crutial which has arrived this morning. |

Re: Help with New PC
Looks like you have a pci express slot on the board, so if you got the
7300 it would have to be a pci-e card not agp. The biggest concern would be the power supply, I could not find any specs on it. The newer cards and systems for that matter are more power hungry. You may want to pop the case cover off and see what wattage psu you have, you may consider upgrading that as well to a quality psu with ample wattage.

Re: Help with New PC
Thanks for your reply, after a bit of googling i managed to find this information
Power Device Type: Power supply Power Provided: 250 Watt Found; http://www.ciao.co.uk/Acer_AcerPower...6_GHz__6654937 (Scroll to the bottom of the page) How much am i looking to pay? I've just purchased an 8400GS. Also will i need to buy a better fan as i'm assuming a fan which comes with a retail PC like this won't be very good. Can you rustle out an average price for me? Thanks alot, again! |

Re: Help with New PC
This is at www.newegg.com Antec True Power Trio TP3-650 ATX12V 650
watt. $114.00. As far as fans go, I would play that by ear. The stock cpu fan should be ok. Monitor temps when you get it going and see if you really need to address that problem.... Dont make a mistake on a cheapo power supply, you will regret it.

Yeah, thats why i'm here now to make sure everythings fine before i go ahead and do something stupid.. ;) I would prefer to buy my PSU from microdirect.co.uk as its pretty close to me. Will an average price 650w PSU be ok?

Re: Help with New PC
Thanks for the replies guys, I've been looking at this one, notice the comments on the bottom of the page, they seem pretty promising?
link for PSU; http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(12394)...an-24-pin.aspx I don't know though, it seems pretty cheap compared to the one you linked me to before.. |
