Exclamation Geforce 6200 Problem only in Games !!!

hey all, I recently upgraded My RAM to 1 Gb DDR 266 ( I Had 512 RAM DDR 400)

After upgarding, games like NFS Prostreet and Stalker Shadow of Chernobil, were playable, but after 3 or 4 days, problems started.

NFS Prostreet starts to slowdown, and sometimes crashes, Stalker starts to flicker with all colored lines on the screen, some games crashes before entering like Matrix Path of Neo (I was able to play it after upgrading to 1gb ram, on high setings...)

Could it be a VGA and RAM Conflict??? I never heard of this conflict

PS : When I pulled the VGA out and i put it again, everything went to normal for 2 days, then the same problem

My Specs:

Motherboard : PCChips P21G (DDR 400, AGP 8x)
RAM : 1 Gb DDR 266 (2 x 512 Mb)
VGA : Nvidia Geforce 6200 256 Mb (Interface 64 bit)
CPU: Intel Celeron D 2.66 Ghz

Re: Geforce 6200 Problem only in Games !!!

don't know about the power supply, but I had the Geforce 6200 for more than 6 months now, and everything was normal, and I found today that after I play Stalker, and the flickers happens, all the games becomes unplayable, so I rebooted my PC and reseted the Bios, and played Path of Neo, everything was normal :S, so could Stalker been the problem?? ( I played it before the RAM upgrade, Slow but no flickers.... )

Re: Geforce 6200 Problem only in Games !!!

The information needed is PSU make/model, total watts, and the amps for +12V. See picture below.

Your PSU is too weak for the graphics card, and will need to be upgraded. What's your price limit?

Re: Geforce 6200 Problem only in Games !!!

amps are the key not the wattage
to run the video card you need 18amps on the 12v line
your power supply was manufactured for the era when the main amp draw was on the 5v line
a few years ago the circuritry changed from the 5v to the 12v line

Re: Geforce 6200 Problem only in Games !!!

No, it means that the PSU was not designed to be used on modern systems with a newer card like the AGP GeForce 6200. When you fit a new PSU with at least 18A for +12V then it will be fine.
