Video card working until startup screen, then quits completely

well, i have a radeon 2800 256mb AGP, I installed the card correctly. I plugged my monitor into it, and it works perfectly, screen turns on and such, until i reach the password screen. After that my monitor just shuts down completely, and i have to switch my monitor back to the old port. Why won't it work properly. And yes, like all other questions, i have replugged everything in, taken the card out and cleaned the port it goes into, i'bve done everything, i've had it for 6 months and i'm giving up

You need to go into your bios and set the video output to the agp slot and disable the onboard video.
