Spinning while gaming

While playing PC shooter games I sometimes start spinning very fast.
To get out of it I push the mouse slowly forward or backward. Any ideas what is causing it. Thanks,

Mother board: ASUS M2N32-SLI premium
OS: XP service pac 2

Re: Spinning while gaming

What make/model is your mouse?

Is it wireless or cabled? If wireless, do you also have a wireless keyboard?

If it's an optical mouse, are you using it on a plain-coloured surface?

Do you have the latest mouse driver installed?

Re: Spinning while gaming

Mouse: Logitech/optical/cabled (model M/N:M-BT96a Rating:5V).
Mouse Pad: Various colors.
Driver: 2.42.257.00 (best of my knowledge is the lastest via their website).
Thanks for your help....

Re: Spinning while gaming

Optical mice work better on plain surfaces. Is there any dirt under the mouse?

Have you tried the original driver off the CD?

If you don't have the CD, you could uninstall the Logitech driver and reboot, forcing Windows to use the built-in Microsoft mouse driver. You will lose the extra functions of the Logitech driver, but at least you'll be able to tell if it's the Logitech driver causing the problem.
