Problem with GeForce 7300GS

I purchased the GeForce 7300GS from TigerDirect and got it today. When I installed it, the PC just beeped. I pulled it out and the pc booted fine. I put the card in an identical box and it did the some thing.

sparkle-usa.com has no support options and I am at a loss.

I am running a HP dc5700 small form factor, w/xp pro

Any ideas?

Re: Problem with GeForce 7300GS

Hello crobertson,

Explain the 'beep', because one short beep is normal. Was it a looong beep, a series of beeps, etc?

Secondly, what kind of powersupply is in your HP? If you open up your case the powersupply will have a sticker that gives wattage, and amperage.

Most 7300GS require Atleast a 350W PS with a minimum of 18 amps on the 12V rail.

Hope that helps!

You should PM one of the hardware team, they'll almost certainly be able to help, they're excellent.

Re: Problem with GeForce 7300GS

Here is my real delima. I have a HP dc5700 small form factor pc. It has everthing already in it to play NWN2 except Video Card. I bought a PCIe card GeForce 7300GS because it was low profile and rated to work with the game. I did not realizing that the card req. min 350W power supply. The pc only has 240w. Are there any low profile cards out there that will work with a 240w pwr sply and will work with NWN2 that are under $100?

I just bought the pc and the game, I would be thankful for any advise.

Re: Problem with GeForce 7300GS

going with pcie the amps are the important requirement
a min. of 26 amps on the 12v+ line for pcie
you will be looking at 450w+ to gain the required amps

Re: Problem with GeForce 7300GS

He's asking if the case itself is a smaller one designed to be used as a digital appliance, or connected to your TV.

From what I've found, this machine is designed to be used as a business workstation, not for gaming. As such, the PSU was tailored to prevent much in the way of upgrades, especially video.

An important thing to note is that the card slot you see is NOT a PCI-Express 16x slot. In fact, it's a proprietary slot called SDVO (Serial Digital Video Output).

If you wanna game you need a new PC.

Re: Problem with GeForce 7300GS

Would this work with my 240w power supply. I can't find any thing that says how many watts are required.

Re: Problem with GeForce 7300GS

Need more power. That system uses a BTX power supply so I'm assuming you can toss in any old BTX power supply and run with it.

Re: Problem with GeForce 7300GS

Does any of this also relate to the fact that the HP dc5700 motherboard requires an SDVO videocard?
