Recommend a card- Bday Gift

Hi everyone.

I am purchasing a vid card for my lil bro for his bday.

2 choices.

HD 2600 Pro (256mb or 512mb)
7600 GT (256mb)

He is not an avid gamer..but would like to play starcraft 2 A (when it comes out) and battlefield 2142..at decent quality. He would be upgrading from a 6100. He does watch alot of movies though so I was leaning towards the hd 2600 pro. Price wise, the 2600 is cheeper by a few dollars but that doesnt matter.

the 7600 has gdr3 as apposed to gdr2 on the 2600 pro..but i like the video rendering abilites of the ati card... the 7600 is a proven card though..

Those experienced with both cards, what would you choose of the 2 above. Unless they are under $100, please don't recommend any other cards..i just want to choose b/w those 2.

I own two 7600 GTs and am pleased. The 2600, however, can do DirectX 10.

Ya..that is also a pro for the 2600..

But i think the 7600 will give him the best performance. Guess I am leaning towards that now..
