Advice Regarding Upgrade

Hi there, I am seeking advice from the experts regarding one of my computers.

Currently, I have an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ processor, 256MB RAM and what I think is an onboard video card - S3 Via delta 64MB or something.

Would it be worth upgrading this system to an entry level gaming system i.e. upgrade RAM to 512MB or 1GB?

I am looking into purchasing the NVIDIA GeForce 7300GS - seems quite cheap.

What would you reccommend? Thanks.

Re: Advice Regarding Upgrade

Howdy CLGW.. How old is your pc? It might make more sense building or buying a new pc. especially if you only have 256 megs of ram.. Your system might not be able to take 1 gig of ram. And the GeForce 7300GS is a pci express card. I am guessing by your specs so far, you probably have an AGP slot or nothing at all, Please download Belarc adviser and copy and paste the results into your next post..

Re: Advice Regarding Upgrade

A 7600GS AGP or even a 7900GS AGP if available would work out OK, but anything more would be a bottleneck most likely. I would definitely upgrade to 1GB or more if your BIOS allows.

When using Belarc use discretion when copying over info because some personal info can be included in the report. Everest and PC Wizard are good alternatives and also have report functions.
