reformatted machine, no ati install disk

Hello, last night I reformatted my Toshiba laptop with an ATI Radeon 9000 IGP inside. Display shows up from onboard display, but I am stuck as how to install my card without a disk.

I downloaded the catalyst drivers but upon installing them I get a prompt saying "INF Error, Video Card not found." and a second saying "Unable to complete installation, set up display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup."

I have no idea what this means, what should I do next?

To avoid conflicts, you need to remove the driver you already have installed and then install the new driver in VGA mode.

Download Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, install and reboot. This is required for the Radeon Catalyst Control Center.

Download the latest driver for the Radeon 9000/XP and save it to the desktop.

Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager button. Click the [+] next to Display Adapter, right-click the ATI Radeon entry and select Uninstall.

Reboot and keep tapping F8 while the computer is starting until you see the Advanced Options menu. Select VGA mode. When Windows has finished loading, the display will look strange. This is only temporary while using the standard VGA driver. Disable your antivirus and install the new driver. Reboot to complete.

Re: reformatted machine, no ati install disk

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm afraid I have no luck.

In device manager I am unable to see any ATI or Display Adapter. In the "Other Devices" area I do see a VGA Controller(VGA Compatable) but deleting this then rebooting in VGA mode and trying to install the card has the same exact two prompts.

I cant find any evidence of the card on my computer, nothing that says ATI.

Re: reformatted machine, no ati install disk

I have been told to use the DH mod tool in order to make the ati drivers work on the Mobility 9000 IGP card. But the www.driverheaven.net/patje site seems to be down completely. Anyone know where I can find the tool?

Re: reformatted machine, no ati install disk

Found the mod tool, still didnt work. I'm at a total loss here, device manager still shows Video Controller (VGA Compatable) and no ATi card. upon running any version of ati drivers I still get the same prompts to try to run a VGA display adapter. I have no clue what to do :(

Re: reformatted machine, no ati install disk

I think you've made a mistake with your link. /patje is not needed. Try this one for the ATI Mobility DH Mod Tool..... http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/23...-download.html

Quote:
First of all, you'll be need a catalyst driver set. Get one from ATI. (With or Without CCC) DOWNLOAD THE NORMAL DESKTOP CATALYST DRIVERS, not the IGP ones, not the MOBILITY ones. Extract the downloaded catalyst file to wherever you want, just remember where. It will also try to install the driver for your card but it will prompt saying INF not found.
