Exclamation OC 8800GTS Is it worth it?

I want to OC my GPU just by a smidge. Is it worth it? (It's Brand new 2 days old)
Current Speeds:
Core Clock: 513
Shader Clock: 1188
Mem Clock: 729 (effective 1339)

Current Temps:
Idle: 60c-65c
Full load: 70c-72c

Current Fan Speed:
60%

I will only have the stock cooling will keeping the fan speed a a constant 100% be sufficient.

Re: OC 8800GTS Is it worth it?

What program are you using to overclock?

How are your case fans positioned? Are they 80mm or 120mm?

Try increasing by 5% and run some stress tests. If the temperatures and voltages don't increase too much, test it in a game and see if you can tell the difference in fps. If you can't, then it's not worth overclocking.

Re: OC 8800GTS Is it worth it?

I will be using Rivia Tuner.
I have 4x 80mm, 1x 120mm. An 80mm at the side, 1 at the front on the floor, 1 for HDD bay and one for the top back... The 120mm is located just above the GPU. 3x 80mm are controled by the PC. and the other 80mm and the 120mm i have full control of.
The reason why the temps are quite hot is because its summer and not even the AC can keep it cool as my room windows is facing the Sun all day (Heats my room up like a oven).
All fans suck in air except the back ones. I did have the side fan blow out, but i found a 4c drop in temp if it sucked in.

Im props going to up the multiplier on my CPU as well as it might be lacking now..

Edit: My friend has a 8600GT and he has OC the card by 75mhz and has seen a 5fps improvement on the most demanding games. With 2c temp increase.

The 8 Series run hot as Nvidia explained it to me. Cuse i was worried that i was damaging the card. But Nv say the card throttles down at 90c and can reach 100+ without too much damage. LOL
