Nvidea GeForce 6600 GT problem...

Ok, I have no idea what the hells wrong it it. I'm tempted to say its dying and I'm going to have to replace it, but if I can have your help for a moment before that.

When playing a game, the textures flash between in-game and black. I've replaced the drivers to no avail, bought a new PSU so I know its not that. The only thing I can think of is that it could be Direct X. I've noted a lot of similar problems on other forums, but I've no idea what on earth to do.

After playing around with DirectX diag, it seems to be Direct3D that's the problem, and I've tried re-installing to no avail.

Any help?

My specs are:
GeForce 6600GT 128 MB
512 RAM
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
250V
XP Service Pack 2

Hi, welcome to TSF.

What happens when you run the display tests in DXdiag?
Is it only when gaming you have problems with the graphics?
What driver version are you using?

Re: Nvidea GeForce 6600 GT problem...

Thanks for the welcome :)

Direct3D is the only one I have problems with- I see the box spinning but the graphics on the box flicker. Its not just games, when I watch some videos it happens as well...
I installed the 84.21 driver, alas to no avail so far...

Make sure there's no dust clogging the fan and heatsink on the card.
What PSU do you have? You need something like a quality 450W.

Re: Nvidea GeForce 6600 GT problem...

Its a 550W, just checking the temp and its running at about 38-43, which seems a little hotter than I expected. The fans spinning fine and I just cleaned it out with a can of air...

Re: Nvidea GeForce 6600 GT problem...

Sounds like the video RAM is about to give up. Do you have another computer you can try the card in?
