[SOLVED] CoD4 -- More FPS problems
So I picked up CoD4 the other day and after booting it up I was having horrible FPS. Its almost always choppy, except for when its on 800x600 (makes the graphics look like crap). Does anyone else have a 7900GS or a 7 series that thinks they know a good setup (in the CP) for the game?
I'm running on AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 2gig ram evga 7900GS Windows xp media edition |

Re: CoD4 -- More FPS problems
I play with the 7900 with everything on high, so i think you may have a heat problem. Make sure you clean all the dust out of your machine, update your drivers and DirectX. Dont be afraid to OC it too. I have mine on 620/800, which is fine. I play on 1400 x 900 resolution.
good luck

Re: CoD4 -- More FPS problems
Just built the computer about 2 weeks ago, everything is clean and basically dust free. No build ups of any sort. I have an intake and exaust fans running, even an extra fan blowing on my card from below it. I'm thinking it could possibly be my PSU? I'm still awaiting to get my Earthwatts 500W PSU, I'm running on a 350. Is there a link where I can find out how to OC my video card? I have no idea how to do it and I don't want to mess anything up.

Re: CoD4 -- More FPS problems
aha, definately your PSU. Even the earthwatts psu may be struggling. Dont oc until you get more power. let us know how you are getting when you get your new psu.
in terms of the oc, download ntune from nvidia here its all on board. try the settings i use, 602 for clock and 800 for memory. test it and monitor temps. should be fine. try running 3dmark06 as well and check temps. mine works no problems, but make sure you power it up, it needs a power cable in addition to the power from the PCI E slot.

Re: CoD4 -- More FPS problems
I haven't got it in the mail yet. I would imagine it was my PSU, 500W should cover my system well. I don't plan on going SLI anytime soon.
So when I install the PSU I should see better preformance? |
