Mistake Serious Problem

I have a bad problem and its costing me loads of money to fix (Total $2000). Ive had my pc for 1 year now, about 3 months ago my top Graphics card failed (Running 2x 7900GT in SLI). It completely died, there was artifacts galore, odd coloured pixels (during POST screen aswell) and then one day the graphic drivers continued to fail during any 3D application (in which the App crashed with a not responding). I removed the card and thought nothing off it. But now my Second card which is now in PCI-E slot 1 has started showing the same symptoms, in the same order as above. At first with the artifacts i thought it must be the display drivers but now they are crashing and so are all 3D apps.
Im like OMG*** ..............
Ive replaced almost everything. Except the MB and CPU.
Could the motherboard be faulty???? Or the CPU.....

Running Apps like WMP11 or my TV software dont crash.. Im assuming they have some sort of software render override.

Temps are all in the norm..
CPU: 36c
HDD1-5: 38c
GPU: 35c
Sys: 35c

Rest of my specs are on the left<<<<<<

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts..

Re: Serious Problem

There's been some problems with the 7900s - especially EVGA's.

So ur saying its more like a bad batch of GPU's and i happened to of gotten two of them ..

What test could i run to check to see if it's my M/B.. The Voltages are fine. But if the M/B is faulty the voltages could be wrong...

Well its about time i upgraded my GPU anyway...

Re: Serious Problem

To perform a "real" test of the voltages you need a multimeter - please read this: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...-stickies.html

I don't think you have a bad mobo, but bad video RAM.

Shouldn't the 7900s be under warranty?

Re: Serious Problem

Just brought a 8800GTS 640mb. Its a good card, but i was expecting more, my 7900GTO can almost match it.. But DX 10 effects are so good on the games...
Well so far there has been no problems but it took about 3 months for anything to happen with my other 2 cards.

Re: Serious Problem

I'm glad you like your new card.

It's a bit strange the 7900s (RAM?) took months to die.

Re: Serious Problem

Thanks. Ask him if it's an eVGA card - those are the ones with most faults, AFAIK.

Re: Serious Problem

You have to look at the card. This is a 7800GTX.
