Vid
Hey, i just recently bought a Nvidia series 8, 8400 GS, 256 MB, Video Card.
Although my computer is only 250 watt, and the recommendation is 300 wattz, could i still be able to run the card on my computer? Or not? What would the worst scenario be? |

Re: Vid
You can try it but the chances are the PC wont boot up - Or the Tower will but you wont get anything on the monitor. Even if it does work it will be putting strain on your PSU which could then cause the Power supply unit to fail - This could burn out your motherboard/cpu.
I would look for a bigger PSU. Remember you cant overpower a system. |

Re: Vid
I wouldn't, just for the sake of the card. Its always best to err on the side of safety so nothing gets ruined. It could conceivably work, but it won't work well.

Re: Vid
If the budget really tight, you could get by with this,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371005 It doesn't give any overhaed for future upgrades, but you won't beat the quality for that price. ![]() For $40 more this one gives you a little more overhead http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371002 But I guess the what we should ask is what PSU you have right now. I know it's 250w, but we need to know the diminsions. If it's micro atx these units will not fit. Either measure it and post the size or post the make and model#. Re: Vid
300 watts would still be pushing it tight. I would grab a 400W PSU.
This is a complete Bargian. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114930 |
