ATI 2900 Pro Stuttering HLP!
My Specs:
MB: Biostar GeForce 6100 M9 Processor: Atlon 64 X2 4400+ (939) Memory: 2GB (4x512) Corsair DDR Video Card: ATI 2900 pro 512mb Powersupply: 650watt Antec True Power Trio OS: Vista Home Premium 32bit During gaming sessions I get sort of a stutter while playing, the game runs like this: smooth-->stutter-->smooth-->stutter. I'm playing at 1440x900 (monitor's native resolution) but it happens even at 800x600. And it happens with Vsync on or off. I was thinking about getting something like this: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/produc...0099/w0099.asp but I was hoping someone knew of a way to fix this w/o spending more money. Possible problems?: Power supply, not enough RAM for gaming under vista, Bottleneck at the processor (I was thinking about upgrading to a Opteron 185 but I'm hesitant to do so if the problem will continue). Other than the stuttering issue the system is stable. I've also tried upping the voltage on the CPU and memory slightly but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any help is appreciated. ps I have the latest ATI and MB drivers (problem persists with cat 7.9 and 7.10), this is a fresh install of vista Last edited by getme; 10-17-2007 at 10:40 AM. |
