Just Started College
I just started college here in NYC, and I decided to bring my homemade desktop computer with me. Of course, I couldn't bring it on the plane, but I wanted to get all new peripherals anyway, so I decided to ship it. Before leaving, I took out my two graphics cards (NVIDIA 7950GT) and my sound card and put them in their original packaging to be shipped separately. My mom shipped all of it after I got here through Pacmail. When all the parts arrived, including the computer itself, I put the daughterboards back in, and as far as I can tell they're still all in perfect condition. So, my parents came up for family weekend, and we went out and got two 22" Viewsonic monitors w/ DVI ports. When I got them back to my dorm and hooked it all up, neither monitor could get a signal. I knew one of the DVI cables was bad, because it had a pin loose, so I assumed there was something wrong with the other monitor as well and took them back. Sunday night, we ordered two 24" monitors from Newegg, a Westinghouse and an acer, with an HDMI and a DVI port, respectively. When I hooked these up, using an HDMI-DVI adapter for the Westinghouse monitor, neither of them could get a signal either. I know the HDMI works on the Westinghouse monitor, because I hooked it up to my PS3 and it worked perfectly. Now, I've checked my video cards, they're both securely in their slots, both of them have power, when I turn the computer on, both of their fans spin. They worked perfectly back in Mississippi. Does anyone have any idea why this would be the case and how I can fix it? Any help is very much appreciated.

Re: Just Started College
Since you mentioned that you built it yourself I suggest tearing it all down and doing a rebuild. Shipping can be hard on a computer if it's not properly packaged or it certian parts aren't removed. You made a good call by removing the video cards and audio card, but the heatsink sounds like it was left in place. A rebuild can help you determine that.
