I've got a Samsung 226BW and it only supports the 1650x1050 widescreen resolution for my desktop. Games can adjust the resolution but when in windows I am forced to use 1650x1050 or a standard non-ws resolution which looks horrible. This resolution makes Windows just a bit too small and I eventually get a headache from straining to read whats on the screen. I used to use a 1440x900 resolution on my 19" WS and it never gave me any trouble.
I'm using the latest monitor driver from Samsung's website. When I try to manually define a resolution in the NVIDIA control panel it says it can't use that resolution. I have searched the entire monitor manual and online documentation. It doesn't mention anything about resolutions anywhere, other than noting the native resolution of the monitor. I downloaded and installed the latest NVIDIA drivers. I made sure to uninstall them through the add/remove programs, boot into safe mode, use driver sweeper to clean up the remaining nvidia files, and then installed the latest drivers. Nothing has changed. Here is a shot of the available resolutions. ![]() So is it the monitor? I've tried two different video cards and both gave me the same problem. Does anybody know what the problem might be?

Re: Samsung 226BW Doesn't Support Non-Native Widescreen Rezies?
it states a Maximum Resolution 1680 x 1050
it will support lower resolution 640x480 through to 1680x1050 http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.co...521H-03Eng.pdf

Re: Samsung 226BW Doesn't Support Non-Native Widescreen Rezies?
Check out the screen shot I posted. No other widescreen resolutions are listed and when I try to create a custom resolution using the Nvidia Control Panel the test always fails (NCP requires you test resolutions before it adds them to the custom res list). So if it isn't the monitor is my video card or video drivers to blame?

What nVidia drivers are you using? I had to revert back to the 94.xx ser to get my monitor's 1680x1050 resolution to work properly.

ForceWare 163.71. Where would I find drivers as far back as the 9X.XX?

Re: Samsung 226BW Doesn't Support Non-Native Widescreen Rezies?
I actually sold my 8800GTX this last week. Finances are bad and I really needed the cash. Anyway I had replaced it with a low budget NVIDIA 7300LE which was giving me the problems. I took the card back to Fry's Electronics and bought an ATI Radeon x1550 and I now have the 1440x900 resolution . Looks like it was indeed a driver problem.
