Price Question.

Alright, this thread pertains to more than the video card itself, but other things necessary aswell, since I did not know where to post it.

Anyway, is there anyway that I can get:

eVGA GeForce 8600GT 512 MB

Gig of ram

New PSU that supports the Video Card

Motherboard that will work out for it

for $340 or under? I'm just asking if it's possible. Just flat out tell me NO if it isn't.

Re: Price Question.

I just finished putting this together for someone else,

512mb of ram is really not needed on a video card that is only 128bit, the extra ram is really just wasted and not used effectively

Intel Dual-Core E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail $93

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116052

Open Box: ASUS P5L-MX LGA 775 Intel 945G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard $60

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131041R

CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory - Retail $54

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145098

XFX PV-T86J-UAHG GeForce 8500GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail $56 ( after rebate )

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150244

Antec True Power Trio TP3-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply with Three 12V Rails 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, FCC, TÜV, CE, C-tick, CCC, CB - Retail $60 ( after rebate )

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371002

This was the cheapest 8600Gt I could find ( after rebate )

Leadtek PX8600GT TDH GDDR2 GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail $89

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814122034

So I came in at $356 with the 8600GT
$323 with the 8500GT

If you want to go with 1G of ram instead of 2 then you can save another $24

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory - Retail $30

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145568

that will bring prices down to $299 with the 8500Gt and $332 with the 8600GT
