Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS problems

Hi everyone,

Since I've had installed Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS videocard, I've experienced Windows crashes when I start the Internet explorer. If I remove a videocard driver from the PC it works correctly again.

Here's my hardware configuration :

Asus P5B Motherboard
Intel Core2 Duo E6550(2.3GHz/4MBL2/1333MHz
PCIe Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS videocard
OP: Windows XP Pro Sp2

All drivers are up to date.

Could anyone help me solving this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, welcome to TSF.

It sounds like your power supply is too weak. What PSU do you have (make/model)?

Re: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS problems

Hello!

I have a Codegen power supply with 400W.
It came with the house CODEGEN 6061-C10 MIDI TOWER P4 400W.

But I don't think that this is power problems, because if I remove the driver the PC works fine with no problem.
And when it crushes it says that XP has problem with the videocard or videocard driver.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS problems

The video card uses less power when the driver isn't installed.
Trust me - you need a new PSU. An 8800GTS needs more than 100W on its own.
I think you should look at a 650W quality PSU.
