Possible Video Problems?

Hi there, I was playing World of Warcraft when randomly my computer restarted. Booted back into windows and tried to run WoW and the whole UI was just flickering. In attempts to test the video card (Nvidia Geforce 7800 GS) I loading a series of other games with no problems. So I restarted Windows again and now it freezes at the welcome screen is a small distorted white box in the middle. I booted in safe mode and this is what i got

Tried reinstalling video drivers and got the same problem.

Windows XP SP2, 1GB RAM, 2.8Ghz P4, Nvidia Geforce 7800 GS 512mb

Re: Possible Video Problems?

Do you see this during boot up? What type of PSU do you have (brand and amperes on the 12v line if you can)?

Re: Possible Video Problems?

as far as Boot up goes its perfectly fine untill it hits the welcome screen into which my screen looks something like this (dont bash my MS Paint skillz)

as far as the PSU goes its a Norwood micro 500 watt psu with +12v = 18.0A and -12v = .5A (not sure if thats what you wanted, pretty savy with everything except the actually voltages and stuff)

Re: Possible Video Problems?

Simply put you need a better and more powerful power supply. The one you have may have worked fine for a while, but it's not of the best quality and is rather low with amperes on the heavily-used 12v rail.

Re: Possible Video Problems?

OK have a update for all you guys. I tested the power supply, it works perfectly fine. threw everything back together after Compusa refused to switch the PSU out. Booted COMPLETELY FINE....the first few times...

Now when I boot up it loads fine then after a few minutes it shuts off. After that when i attempt to turn it back on the Power LED on my case blinks and the HDD LED on my case stays solid. Any solutions/suggestions??
