Monitor input

I have a compaq presarior desktop computer SR2013wm with a HP VS17X Monitor> When I turn on my computer the monitor comes up with No imput signal, The monitor is going to sleep..What could my problem be? I have tried everything I can think of and still nothing.

Do you hear the beep when it starts up? Do you hear the Windows start up sound?

Do you have another monitor you can try?

I have found out my video card needs repaced..Thank God it is still under Warrenty.Sending it out to be fixed
