Exclamation ATI graphic card problem

I have an ATI X1300 256mb AGP video card. I installed it on my emachine T3092 series desktop. I bought and installed a 500+ watt power supply since the one it came with wasn't sufficient. All drivers installed correctly, rebooted and am able to play any game, Alient Shooter 2 Vengeance, Dynasty Warriors 4 Hyper or my T.V. tuner for about 5-10 minutes if that and then my computer reboots itself. Its as if the card is getting too hot and it shuts down so it wont burn up? Anywho, I heard something about having the correct amperage and rail for the mother board and power supply. I dont quite understand the amperage and rail point of view so here is the link for my power supply and the ATI graphics card...

If you could, please let me know if I have the correct specs from my computer, along with the upgraded power supply and got 1gig of ram total.
Any and all help would be most appreciated!

Re: ATI graphic card problem

I think that the PSU is not good enough. It is actually only giving out about 300W of power because you bought a cheap and nasty one, you should be spending at least £50 on a 500W PSU!

Re: ATI graphic card problem

What powersupply would you suggest IAmNutsAboutPcs? And why wouldnt a 500 watt power supply not produce 500 watts?

Re: ATI graphic card problem

No PSU in the world gives out as much power as it says.

You should always try to get a PSU with a 20a+ on the 12v rail.

Also look at efficiency, if the efficiency is about 80-90% that is good.

Hope this helps,

Mikey.

Re: ATI graphic card problem

Im sure its a minimum of 18a on the 12V rail(s) for AGP. Check to see how many you have.

Download Speedfan and post the tempreture/Voltages when your At Idle and At load ( IE Running a game ).

If your going to go with a new PSU i would look at the Antec trio 430W, Or if you want to take another jump up get the TPT 550W ( True Power Trio - again Antec ).
