bought a second hand graphics card - black screen

I just bought a graphics card for my old AMD 2.0 Ghz. When I insert it and start up the cpu I won't get a picture - neither from the mobo's screen connector nor from the graphics card's connection.

What could the problem be? I've heard about activating graphics cards but I don't know how to do that.

Can anyone help?

Have you disabled the onboard video card?

What type of Graphics card did you buy?
