hello,
i have a dell xps gen 4 system, with a Ati Radeon X850 Platinum edition video card. recently i installed Medal of Honor - Airborne. when i start the game, the only thing that comes up is a warning window that says: " this video card is not supported". that's pretty annoying, because i checked on the EA Games website and they don't say anything about my video card not being supported. so, i updated to the latest Ati Catalyst drivers, version 7.9 Still same thing. i've done some research and i found out that i have vertex version 2.0 and this game requires version 3.0 my question is: does my video card support vertex 3.0 ? i tried to download and install directx 10, but i could'n find it. i know that vertex is part of DirectX. but again, does my video card support directx 10 ? thank you all for your help. |

Re: Ati Radeon x850 platinum and Medal of Honor - Airborne
Hi,
I'm having a similar problem. Started with MOH Airborne Assault, same message about video card. Eventhough mine works fine, I thought it might be time to upgrade to a better card. Bought an ATI x1650 Pro video card and noticed it needs 550 watts or better power supply to run. Now, I'm in the same boat, I don't know if my Sony VAIO will take an aftermarket power supply rated at 550 watts or better. From what I've read in forums, Sony's power supply/plugs may be proprietary. Hate to put a new one in and find out it won't plug in or hardware gets damaged because of incorrect output voltages. I posted a thread here to see if someone provide advice. Sorry I couldn't help any more but, thought you might need to be aware of power requirements for the newer video cards in case you decide to get one. Seems new games/software is driving complete upgrades and Sony refuses to help with any advice. Will1

Re: Ati Radeon x850 platinum and Medal of Honor - Airborne

Re: Ati Radeon x850 platinum and Medal of Honor - Airborne
DirectX 9.0c includes SM 3.0, but your card doesn't support it. It's essentially 2 generations old now. An X1950 from ATI or a 7900 from nVidia for DirectX 9.0c hardware support.
