two monitors

I have a Gigabyte Radeon 9200 se video card with tv out. I can get a tv to have an extended desktop but cannot understand how to get a second monitor working instead. I do have a video card on the motherboard but windows only recognizes the radeon. I have read some articles stating that you can use two video cards, but it does not seem to work. ???

Re: two monitors

Unfortunately motherboards that I'm aware of won't allow onboard video and AGP cards to run simultainiously. The onboard is disable when the video card is installed. You could add a PCI video card or get a later model AGP card with dual outputs.

Re: two monitors

if your motherboard is SLI/crossfire compatable then yes.

For dual monitors you need A Video card with both VGA and DVI ports, And if needed, the secondary monitor will need the VGA to DVI adaptor.

Re: two monitors

What I understand is that if my motherboard is compatible I could add(inno 3d mx 64 mb agp va card) and then have two video cards active. this still would not allow me to run two monitors??

Re: two monitors

Look at the back of your video card.

Does it have a VGA Slot and a DVI slot like this?

Re: two monitors

No. It only has the blue output and the tv out. I understand that if I had a card that looked like that, and with the adapter I could run two monitors. Is there no other alternative? eg)two video cards, or some method to adapt the tv out to the monitor vs televison. I do have an additional video card. The old monitor I am hooking up really doesn't warrant any additional cost and I am just looking for somthing that I can do with what I have. If not c'est la vie. (cheap and dumb). I really appreciate your help though.
