Problems switching from PCI to AGP

I have an older motherboard i am upgrading the video card on for the time being until i buy a new motherboard and i am running a 128mb video card in a PCI slot and am trying to put a Radeon 9550 256mb AGP slot into the motherboards AGP slot. I pull the old PCI slot one and install the new one into the AGP slot on the motherboard and i get the boot up screen then the blinking cursor and everything but as soon as it would normally got to the XP screen the screen goes black. The monitor is getting an input cause when it doesn't it goes into hibernate but all i see is the black screen. I went back to the PCI slot board to get the PC working again for the time being. Do i need to uninstall the drivers for the PCI slot video card 1st then install the AGP slot board and hope it recognizes it?

Re: Problems switching from PCI to AGP

You have it. Boot back up with your old card and uninstall you old card, then shut down. Install your new card, then enter the bios setup menu and set the bios to boot from AGP first and everything should be wonderful when you reboot.

Did you delete the drivers for the old card?
