Installing GFX card with a 6100 onboard?
Hi,
I have an asus nForce 4 motherboard with nVidia 6100 graphics integrated. I was just wondering the order of what things I need to do to be able install my new PCIe Card. And at what point will I need to fit it. I understand that it will not automatically disable itself. And will it revert to a basic display system with the 6100 disable to be able to run installation of the new card? Thanks |

Re: Installing GFX card with a 6100 onboard?
With the computer off, plug in the new card. Plug your monitor into the new card, and turn on the computer. It should automatically display using the new card. Windows will likely install drivers for it, but I would use the latest drivers from the manufacturer of the card. If Windows does not load drivers, simply put in the driver disk when Windows asks and Windows will search for and find them.

Re: Installing GFX card with a 6100 onboard?
I have fitted the new card and it is running with the gf 6100 driver OK.
However when I try to install newer drivers from the CD it goes through the installation process and then says it has to terminate as it detects my operating system is not Vista 32-bit when in this case it is. The same thing also happens when trying to install the 64-bit drivers. I am fine with the basic drivers but I have no access to the nVidia advanced menu. So I am left wondering how I am going to install proper drivers |
