Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

I recently bought a new desktop and manually placed a 256mb Geforce 7300GT inside it. When I play counterstrike source, I notice that I have 30 fps meaning that my new video card is not fully running it.

I also noticed when I go to Run->dxdiag->Display Tab, It is showing me my 7300GT and 760mb as total memory. I think that my integrated is adding up the video memory and slowing my computer somewhat also. I heard from friends that my integrated video card/drivers are still running and that I should disable it. Is there a way I can disable it without harming my computer.

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

Some of the "lower-end" cards will chomp up a bit of system RAM which will give an inflated total when viewing the information in DXDiag. A 7300 isn't the worst card, but it's also no one of the greatest so your FPS issue may be a simple limitation of hardware. Other things such as a small amount of RAM, slow CPU, and having too much going on in the background.

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

So it is not possible to disable the integrated video card at least?

My old computer had a P4 1.8gHz single core, 1gb and a geforce 4800, WINXP and it still had around the 30 FPS.

This new computer is an Athlon 2.4gHz dual core, 1.5gb, 7300 and the vista and still getting the 30FPS average. Seems like the integrated card is probably eating some RAM and just wondering if it is actually possible to take it off.

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

Another thing you can do is download Cacheman and set the profile to Games. This will give you a nice boost in games especially if you have 2 GB of RAM.

EDIT: What drivers are you using? If you aren't already, try the 84.21's.

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

I downloaded ForceWare 162.22 that I downloaded from their site.

Here is the system information according to Nvidia's control panel.

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

Uninstall your current drivers and download these drivers.

Note that you should install the driver in safe mode. To do this, rapidly tap the F8 button right before the Windows XP logo normally appears. You may not get it the first time, but if you don't, reboot and try again. Also, disable any antivirus temporarily during the installation. When you are done, reboot and Windows will automatically boot up normally.

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

when i run in safemode and try to install that, i get an error saying "Operating system is not windows" something like that. It keeps telling me that windows is not installed also. I noticed it's for win2000/XP and when i try to do the capabality properties, it is all grayed out. Any other way?

Oh OK. In that case try these drivers.

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

I am now getting ~15 fps for counterstrike source on the new drivers.

I also noticed on dxdiag, the total approx mem for the video card dropped down to 520mb.

I don't know if it matters but the integrated graphics card for the motherboard is an Nvidia Geforce 6150 SE (could be messing around with the real graphics?).

Re: Uninstalling integrated video card drivers?

Go back to the 162 drivers then. A system restore might be easiest. Did you try cacheman yet?

Oh, not yet but I'll try it out. I was hoping I could get the problem fixed without messing with anything.
