Re: ATI video issue

What's the version number of the driver and where did you download it from?

Re: ATI video issue

Before installing ATI drivers you need to have the Microsoft .NET Framework installed. If you can't see it listed in Add/Remove Programs, you can download it from here.

Install .NET and reboot.

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager button, and click the [+] next to Display Adapters. Right-click the Radeon 9600 entry and select Uninstall.

Reboot into VGA mode, disable antivirus to prevent conflicts, install the 7-8_xp32_dd_50960 driver and reboot to complete.

Re: ATI video issue

thank you! that did the trick! it installed perfectly, but the reason i wanted to update is i just got half-life 2 episode one to play, and my graphics screwed up, turning my screen into a mush of crazy color blocks, ill test the game tomorrow and let you know how it all turns out :)

Re: ATI video issue

I'm glad it worked! I also had some display problems with HL2 Ep1 that turned out to be DirectX related. Make sure you have the latest DirectX 9.0c and run the tests in Start > Run > dxdiag > Display tab.

You might want to create a restore point before running the game if you suspect it will crash.
