Display is a little wacky somtimes

My screen is a little wacky sometimes. I'm pretty sure it's not monitor because I can make a screenshot of it and paste it onto paint. Don't really know what's causing it. Updated drivers for my card. Any suggestions?

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

Looks like bad RAM on the Card.

Have you got another graphics card you can try? or try the 9800pro in another machine?

What PSU do you have?

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

It's a 620watt apevia psu. I don't have another graphics card but maybe i can ask a friend to bring over their monitor...don't know when he can do that though. This comes and goes though. When it starts I can make it disappear when I put up a new window. Currently there's none of that stuff on.

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

Apevia Generally make Low-End power supplys, but i dont think thats your problem here.

Is it overclocked? It may be a case of buying a new card im afraid, as once the Memory on the card is damaged there isnt any way of fixing it.

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

There hasn't been a big problem. I haven't overclocked or anything, but this may be a temporary display problem because it hasn't whacked out for a while. If it does it again I may have to think about buying a new system as this is a 4 year old system and pretty out of date :P. Nevermind it just did it hmm...

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

If you can test the card on a friends machine and the problem was to occour then you would know if its the Video card.

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

Hi,
It's most likely bad video RAM.
But - have a look at the monitor plug and reseat the video card.

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

I think you should check the voltages and temperatures in BIOS first.

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

weird...I went to my friends house today to test my video card on their computer, and my card worked well. Interesting thing was at the windows screen it went wacky and that was it. I'm back in my computer and I haven't gotten a wacky screen yet. I'll keep this updated...if anything else happens.

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

This looks exactly like what was occuring with my card, also a 9800 pro. Turns out, it was bad ram on the card.

If you want, you can try using ATI tool to underclock the card somewhat and see if the artifacts go away - which is what keeps mine under control.

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes

Could just be a loose contact (in the AGP slot).

Re: Display is a little wacky somtimes
