getting new graphics card a few simple questions?

My comp stats are currently:
Motherboard: Asus P5GD1-FM
Ram: 1.5 gig pc3200 ddr sdram
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz
Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon x300se

I know the graphics card is a bit lame so i was going to get a new one. I was thinking of the Sapphire Radeon x1650 Pro 512mb which is just over £50. Any oppinions on this?

How much do u think it will improve my PC?
What will it improve other than gaming?
How do i find out if my power supply will be gd enough?

Any replys will be welcome.

Re: getting new graphics card a few simple questions?

Hi,
Most video cards have a VGA connection. What you have to consider - is the power supply strong enough to handle an upgrade?

Re: getting new graphics card a few simple questions?

My power supply is:

FSP 350-60THA-P
AC Input 220-240V 4.5A 50Hz
Max DC Output 350W ~(+3.3V & +6V+130W Max)

Is this high enough?

Re: getting new graphics card a few simple questions?

Do you know the exact computer model?
Is there an AGP or a PCI-E slot on the motherboard?
Do you know how many Amps the power supply has on the 12V rail (you can find the info on the PSU label inside the case)?
Sorry for all the questions - but it's necessary to know those things before we can help you.

Re: getting new graphics card a few simple questions?

Same pc as my firends, its PCI-E slot. The X1650 should run fine in games AFAIK & A strong PSU.

according 2 that website the X1650 Pro which is the one i am looking at uses 43W (where my current graphics card uses the X300 SE uses) 31W and the Max DC Output of my power supply is 350W so it shoud work

I'm afraid that's not correct. The card will need at least 43W over and above what the computer is using now. It looks like you need a new PSU as well.
