trouble playing video on my new vx2255wm LCD monitor

I recently purchased a Viewsonic vx2255wm-2 series and noticed that when i play streaming video, the video pauses every 5-10 seconds. Could my new monitor be the cause of my problem? If so what can I do about it?

What video card do you have?
What's your resolution and refresh rates set at?
What drivers are you using?
