5200 strange issue

I have a AMD atlhon 3500+ with 1GB ram. My graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce FX5200 128mb.

The video board seems to work fine. I can run several applications, watch dvd and even run the nvidia control manager and see that the graphics is ok, but it´s the third game that I´ve installed that I have the same issue. The introduction movie from the game works fine but when the game will start, the menu is fuzzy. Doesnt work. The sound still playing. Seems that the 3d card does not work....

The same games on other computer works well.... Any idea?

I´m using the 6.14.11.6218 driver verision. My monitor is a SyncMaster 731BF 2ms

The last game I've tried it was BF1942. The menu was totally blank with just the year and company names appearing at the bottow of the page.

Hi, welcome to TSF

It could be a driver problem. Uninstall the nVidia driver you have now (in Control panel > Add or remove programs).
Download the 84.21 driver version from nVidia.
Reboot into VGA mode (tap F8 while the computer starts).
Disable anti-virus and install the downloaded driver.

I already did that... actually I've try different drivers. The last one I try and that its actually installed is the 93.31 (I think is this..)

It's very strange... I run 3dmax program and the results was fine (617).

But the games is not working... I've tried the Tiger Woods now (an old game mine) and the menu is not working as well... The cursor is appearing , the sound is ok but the menu did not appear...

Make sure you have the correct driver. If you don't have a US version of Windows you have to install the international driver version.
Update DirextX.
Run Windows DirextX test (click Start > Run - type dxdiag and click OK). Run the display tests.
Test the graphics with 3DMark.

First, thank you very much for your help and for your patience.

I read your last post and I tought I had a chance to do this work because I realize that I always have installed drivers for US version and my windows is not. So, I unistall the nvidia drivers, I clean up using Driver Cleaner PRO and install the international driver 84.21 (The last one from the international site)

I update the directx even know that my it is already the last one. The problem still the same.

All the tests from dxdiag works fine. The 3DMArk works as well (670 points) and I could see all games from 3dmark (airplane, princess, ogros, etc..)

The DVD moveis works fine at my computer too. The only problem I notice so far it is for games. Fifa 2007, BF 1942, Tiger Woods. All have the same behavior. The initial movie works fine, the sound is ok but when the first menu from the games should appear, a black screen appear and the sound still plays.... If I hit crtl+alt+del I can see that the game is running.

I dont know what to do anymore.....

Any clue??????

Sorry to hear that. See if there are any patches for the games.
Also - please read this for some good advice.
