Enquiring for of compatibility of graphics card for my pc
Sir,
My pc is an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ @2GHz,with 266MHz FSB speed, and VIA KM266 chipset, 512 MB DDR SDRAM (266 MHz) and one AGP 8x slot is available in my pc. I purchased an Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 4000 card of 64 Mb, but it did not support pixel shaders for playing latest games. Please tell me, whether 'ATI Radeon x1650 Pro' graphics card(for 8x AGP slot) of 512 MB Video RAM will support my pc or not. Because I am in doubt that x 1650 Pro is of 128-bit memory interface and it has DDR 2 Video Ram equipped, and my pc is only of 32-bit and my monitor supports ony a maximum resolution upto (1024 X 768), and my system Ram is DDR SDRAM. So, will x1650 Pro of 128-bit and DDR 2 Ram will support my 32-bit and DDR Ram equipped pc?Kindly reply . |

Re: Enquiring for of compatibility of graphics card for my pc
The speed of the ram on the card is of no concern to the speed of
ram on your machine. If your machine meets the power requirments it will work fine. If I had a machine running old pc100 sdram I could install a video card that has ddr2, no problem, hope this helps.

Re: Enquiring for of compatibility of graphics card for my pc
Just to echo Manic. The only thing that might cause you issues is the lack of power. If the power supply you currently have is not pushing enough power for the 1650Pro you'll run into system instability and your system simply may not start at all.
What is the make and model of your PSU and the available amps on the 12v rail? All this info can be found on the sticker on the side of the power supply.
