GeForce 7300 GT PCE-E Problem : Random slow-down after 10-20 min
Greetings! My name is Corey and I seem to be having an unexpected and frustrating problem with my new video card.
I built this machine a couple years back and originally had a GeForce 6600 128mb SLI card installed (I only had one so no SLI going, though my motherboard does support it). I was banking on future expandability. Anyway, with this setup my video card worked just fine, until one day it decided to fry itself somehow (i think a capacitor blew...pretty unexpected). Regardless, I had to replace it. I didn't feel like waiting around on a new one, so I picked a GeForce 7300 GT 256mb up from a local store. But, ever since I've had this card installed, any modern game that pushes my system to the limits (such as Oblivion or X3: Reunion) will start off running fine, and about 10-15 min. in starts massively slowing down. When I take a look at my CPU usage, it goes through the roof. But when I return to windows everything is fine. The only way to seemingly fix this problem is to exit the application and re-enter. Keep in mind that no other hardware has been changed out besides my DVD-ROM drive and hard drive (which shouldn't affect any sort of video performance). Has anyone had this problem before? I have no idea what's going on. Any help would be appreciated. |
