1680x1050 DVI Compatibility
Hi
Question 1: I have a long history of frustration in trying to get my dual 1680x1050 (what can I say I like to have a lot of real estate...) screens to work with a "normal" graphics card. The N-Vidia(5) card in my desktop has one analogue and one DVI-D(? - I am not at my desktop, so I can't check) port. The analogue works fine at 1680x1050, but the DVI will not support 1680x1050. What can I do? Do I need to dowload a new driver for it or something? Question 2: I am thinking about purchasing a HP Docking station for my HP nc6120 laptop. I am trying to figure out whether I will have the same problem with that. I know it has one analogue and one DVI-D output. What governs the graphics capabilities of a docking station, is it instrinsic to the station, or is it inherited from the Laptop? My laptop has the following graphics adaptor "Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS, 910 GML Express Chipset Family" Thanks, any ideas? |

Re: 1680x1050 DVI Compatibility
Hi, and welcome to TSF!
![]() Your video card probably has a DVI-I output. Now are you using the DVI cable that came with your monitor? You shouldn't need a dual link cable for that resolution, but have you tried one? Also, have you tried using the DVI to VGA adapter and using a VGA cable on the DVI output?
