Nvidia GE force5700 freezing display
Hi, I'm Taylor from Minnesota. I've had my computer for more than 3 years now, and I've had no problems aside from the occasional virus.
But recently my Nvidia GEforce 5700 graphics card will stop everything going on betwen itself and the monitor, freezing up display, while other applications continue. This happens most often when I'm watching movies. though sometimes it will find an image on the internet it doesn't agree with and randomly refresh(sometimes freeze) my monitor. I tried updating the driver, I've tried to turn my display settings all the way down, and nothing has seemed to work as far as this(Though it used to much worse before I turned the settings down. it would freeze when I chose an application from "start".) I know only the display freezes because I can still start and stop the playing audio with shortcuts on the keyboard. I have no idea how to remedy this problem, I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance, Taylor. P.S. if you need any other information please say so :]. **edit** I can sometimes recover my display without reseting my entire computer by clicking the hibernate button and unlocking my computer again, though more often than not this does not work. Re: Nvidia GE force5700 freezing display
first blow the dust out from around the fans and h/sinks on the cpu and video
look at the label on the side of the psu and post how many amps it supplies on the 12v+ line

I'm sorry, but I don't know what the psu is; power supply unit? I cleared as much dust as I could on my heat sink fan and the video card. |

Re: Nvidia GE force5700 freezing display
Thanks! :}
well in that case, my little sticker says the following: +5, -5v, +12v, -12v, +3.3v, +5vsb Also despite a nearly crystal clean heat fan and graphics card, I've had no luck with my problem. |
